How to play

Four coloured segments form a circle. The game lights one at random, you repeat it, and then it replays the same sequence with one new step added on the end. Each round is therefore one step longer than the last. Repeat the whole sequence correctly and you move on; get any single step wrong and the run ends immediately, with all four segments flashing three times.

• Click a segment — plays your next step. Clicks are ignored while the game is showing you the sequence.
• Start button — begins a run at round 1, and restarts from the beginning at any point.

Scoring

There is no point total. Your result is the round number, which is also the length of the sequence you managed to repeat, so reaching round 12 means you played back twelve steps in order. The counter advances the moment you finish a sequence, before the next step is added. The Best readout keeps the highest round of your session and is set when a run ends.

Tips

• The sequence never changes within a run. Everything you saw last round is repeated in the same order, so only the final step is new information.
• Group the steps into pairs or threes rather than memorising a long flat list. Chunking is what carries you past round 8.
• Each step lights for 400 milliseconds with a 300 millisecond gap. Watch to the end rather than starting to rehearse partway through.
• There is no time limit on your turn, so pause and recall the whole sequence before touching anything.
