Two players share one board, White moving first. Click a piece of your own colour and the squares it can legally reach are marked, with squares holding an enemy piece marked differently from empty ones. Click one of them to move. Every piece follows its normal movement rule, including the pawn's two-square first move and its diagonal capture. This is a simplified engine: it does not detect check or checkmate, so a game is won by capturing the enemy king outright.
There is no score and no material count. The game ends only when a king is captured, at which point the message names the winner. A pawn that reaches the far rank is promoted to a queen automatically, with no choice offered. Castling and en passant are not implemented, so the opening plays a little differently from a full chess program.
The engine validates piece movement only. Check and checkmate are not detected, so protecting the king is entirely up to you.
No. Castling and en passant are not implemented, and pawn promotion always gives a queen.
Yes — on a touch screen the game shows on-screen buttons, and games played with a mouse work by tapping.
