How to play
The game hides one whole number inside the range shown above the board and gives you a fixed number of attempts to name it. After each guess the feedback line says whether the secret number is higher or lower, and the chips below keep a record of what you have tried.
- Easy (1-100) — range 1 to 100 with 10 attempts. Picking a difficulty starts a fresh round.
- Medium (1-500) — range 1 to 500 with 12 attempts.
- Hard (1-1000) — range 1 to 1000 with 15 attempts.
- Number field — type your guess. Values outside the range are ignored.
- Guess button and Enter key — both submit the number in the field.
- New Game button — draws a new secret number and clears the history.
Scoring
There are no points, only wins. The Wins counter rises by one each time you name the number and keeps counting for as long as the page stays open. The bar fills as attempts are used, and when the last one is spent the round ends and the number is revealed. Chips are colour coded: blue for too low, red for too high, green for the winning guess.
Tips
- Halve the range every time — 50 on Easy, 250 on Medium, 500 on Hard — then keep splitting what is left.
- Ten attempts comfortably cover 1 to 100 and fifteen cover 1 to 1000, so the limits are never tight if you split cleanly.
- Read the chips instead of relying on memory: the highest blue and the lowest red are your real bounds.
- A guess outside the range is discarded without costing an attempt.
Frequently asked questions
What happens when I run out of attempts?
The round stops, the input is disabled and the secret number is shown. Press New Game to start again.
Does the Wins count get saved?
No. It is held in memory only and resets when you reload the page.
Can I play this on a phone?
Yes. On a touch screen the game shows on-screen buttons, and games played with a mouse work by tapping.
