How to play

Yahtzee is played solo over thirteen rounds, one for each category on the scorecard. Each round you roll five dice, keep the ones you like and reroll the rest, up to three rolls. You then commit the dice to a category, which closes for the rest of the game. Every category must be filled, so the skill is choosing which round to spend a good roll on and which category to sacrifice a bad one to.

Scoring

The six number categories pay the sum of the matching dice only, so three fours in Fours is 12. Three of a Kind and Four of a Kind pay the total of all five dice when the requirement is met and nothing otherwise. Full House is a flat 25, Small Straight 30, Large Straight 40 and five of a kind in the Yahtzee row 50. Chance always pays the sum of all five. This build has no upper-section bonus.

Tips

Frequently asked questions

Can I play this on a phone?

Yes — on a touch screen the game shows on-screen buttons, and games played with a mouse work by tapping.

Do I have to use all three rolls?

No. The scorecard buttons unlock after the first roll, so you may score early.

Is there a bonus for the number categories?

No. There is no 35 point upper-section bonus, so Ones through Sixes are worth exactly the dice they match.
