🥁 Drum Pad

How to play

Eight drum pads with every sound built live in the browser rather than loaded from a file. Pick one of the three kits, then hit pads with the mouse or the keyboard. Nothing is scored or recorded — this is an instrument, not a round-based game.

Scoring

There is no score. Sounds are synthesised on the spot: kicks and toms are sine oscillators that sweep down in pitch, snares and claps are filtered noise bursts, hats and cymbals are high-passed noise, and the electronic kit adds square-wave synth and zap voices. Each hit decays over 0.2 seconds, or 0.4 for the open hat. The bar graph above the pads is decorative, driven by your hits rather than by the audio itself.

Tips

Frequently asked questions

Can I record what I play?

No. There is no recording, looping or export, so the pads are for playing live only.

Why is there no sound?

Check the volume slider, then click a pad again. Browsers block audio until the page has been interacted with, so the first hit sometimes only unlocks the audio engine.

Can I play this on a phone?

Yes — on a touch screen the game shows on-screen buttons, and games played with a mouse work by tapping.
