Goal
Arrange your 10 cards into sets (3-4 cards of the same rank) and runs (3+ consecutive cards of one suit) to shed deadwood — points from cards that don't fit any group. Ace = 1, number cards = face value, J/Q/K = 10.
Your turn
- Tap the stock pile (face down) or the discard pile (face up) to draw one card.
- Tap a card in your hand to select it, then Discard it to end your turn.
Knock & Gin
- If discarding your selected card would leave your deadwood at 10 or under, the Knock button lights up — lay your hand down and score the difference between your deadwood and the computer's.
- If it would leave you at 0 deadwood, the button reads Gin! instead — score the computer's full deadwood plus a 25-point bonus, and the computer gets no chance to lay off cards onto your melds.
- On an ordinary knock, the computer lays off any of its own deadwood cards it can onto your melds first (extending a run, or adding to a set) before its remaining deadwood is compared to yours.
- If the computer's deadwood after layoffs ends up lower than yours, that's an undercut — it scores the difference plus a 25-point bonus instead of you.
The stock running low
If the stock pile ever gets down to its last 2 cards with nobody having knocked, the hand is a dead wall — no points are scored, and the same dealer deals again.
Winning the match
Points accumulate hand after hand. The first player to reach 100 points wins the match. Your match record — matches won, hands won, times you've gone gin, your best single-hand score and your win streak — is saved on this device.
Tips
- Low cards (Ace-4) are cheap to hold as deadwood if you're not ready to knock — high cards (9-K) are risky to keep.
- Knocking early locks in a smaller, safer win; waiting for gin risks getting undercut, but pays more.
