Two hands, one dealer to beat
Free play uses practice credits with no cash value.
You and the dealer are each dealt 7 cards from a 53-card deck (a standard 52 plus one Joker, called "the bug" — it completes a straight or a flush, and otherwise counts as an Ace). Every hand, both sides automatically split their 7 cards into a 5-card High hand and a 2-card Low hand, with the High hand always set to legally out-rank the Low hand. Your hand is arranged to play as strongly as possible; the dealer's hand is set by a fixed, simple house rule — the same heuristic on both sides, so neither of you plays with an information edge.
Both of your hands are compared to both of the dealer's hands, independently. Win both and your bet pays out. Win one and lose one — a "split" — and it's a push (stake back, no profit). Lose both and you lose the bet. On an exact tie in either hand, the dealer wins the tie — the classic Pai Gow "copy" rule.
